A land of vastness and contrasts

Russia in the north, China in the south.
Area:
About 1.56 million square kilometers –
the 18th largest country in the world.
Landscape:
Mongolia consists mainly of steppes, deserts and mountains.
Famous regions include the Gobi Desert and the Altai Mountains.

The capital and largest city,
with around 1.5 million inhabitants
(more than a third of the total population).
